Sasa Saastamoinen is a Finnish artist based in Helsinki. She works primarily with paper. Her practice draws on the natural world as a visual language for human experience. Plants, flowers, and other organic forms take on human qualities: they interact, relate, confront, and sometimes withdraw. Also light, weather, and other environmental elements carry emotional weight. Her works move between intimacy, isolation, longing, and terror, reflecting vulnerability and the shifting dynamics of connections, psyche, and world.
